Sheldon "Shelly" Moldoff began his career in comics in the early 1940s doing strips and single panel gags for sports magazines such as Ring. His first comics work was "Cliff Cornwall" in All-American Comics. He is best known for his work on the Golden Age Hawkman and Flash, but he drew nearly every hero in the Golden Age DC universe at one time or another. Shelly also ghosted for Bob Kane on Batman from 1953 to 1967. At that time Shelly designed such characters as "Clayface," "Batmite" and countless others. Shellyıs favorite work among his career is "Black Pirate," which he created, wrote and drew for Sensation Comics in 1940. He has worked extensively in the advertising industry. In recent years, Shelly has worked on comics for Shoney's Restaurants and Blockbuster Video.
