The Unofficial Guide to the DC Universe or DCU Guide for short was established in 1996. It began as the Unofficial DC Index Series focusing on comic book indexes, but soon branched out to include character profiles, chronologies and more. | |||

As you might have noticed the layout of the DCU Guide was slightly changed going into 2024.<!-- See more about the reasons for the update here.--> | |||
Along with the update we've decided to make some changes to the DCU Guide itself as well, the most important of which is the character listings. | |||
As a result of the changes brought on by ''Dark Nights: Death Metal'' and ''Dark Crisis'' the history of the DC Universe (and Multiverse as well) was altered. | |||
This means that the New 52 designation we've been using for everything up until now, no longer applies. According to {{c|Infinite Frontier #0}} the "manipulations to the timeline have been undone, and time has been restored to its proper configuration". This "proper configuration" is not completely the same as any of the past continuities but one that appears to incorporate elements from all of them. | |||
Because of this, we will be treating character as being the same throughout the history of the DC Universe, unless they have been so drastically changed that their past histories cannot be reconciled with their current history. | |||
We are not completely done with this change, so some links in the indexes might lead you to the main profile instead of the right one in these special cases. We aim to get this fixed as soon as possible. | |||
